Masks made compulsory as virus cases rise

Prime Minister of Paris, Jean Castex has announced that the use of face masks is now compulsory throughout the French capital.

The prime minister said that there was an “undeniable resurgence” of the Covid-19 epidemic throughout France, whilst briefing a press conference in Paris. With a rate of 39 positive cases per 100000 of the population, the rate has quadrupled since the last month.

During the conference it was mentioned that the increase is happening within all age groups as the percentage of positive tests was up from 1% to 3.7% from May to today.

The “R” rate of viral transmissions has also risen to 1.4, which roughly translates to 10 people infecting 14 people on average, nationwide.
